DIRECTOR
What colleges did you attend and what were your majors and/or focuses?
I attended the University of New Mexico and majored in Music and Spanish and minored in Philosophy. Then, I went to the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago and received a Masters in Divinity and intercultural Ministries. And I also went to the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration and received a Masters in Social Services.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Sleep! I like to write music, I like to hike, and I like hanging out in coffee shops and local places with friends.
What is your favorite vacation spot/place to travel?
I have to travel so much for ministry that I don't really like traveling for pleasure. I like being home. I really like spending time in northern New Mexico, too, though.
What do you love most about being a Catholic priest?
I love celebrating the sacraments and witnessing God's grace at work, and I love being able to share in the intimate moments of peoples' lives.
Share something that you like about yourself?
I like that I'm an only child and that I'm a religious.
Why ministry? Why did you become a priest?
I became a priest because I think it's the most authentic way I can give myself back to God.
CELINA CHAVEZ

What college did you attend and what was your major?
I went to the University of New Mexico and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Speech and Hearing Sciences.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I really enjoy anything art-related: listening to and playing music, going to the movies, going to concerts or Popejoy to see a show or ballet, writing, photography, etc. I also like discovering and visiting new places with friends where I live (coffee shops, breweries, mission churches, etc.).
What is your favorite vacation spot/place to travel?
I love Disneyland and Poland!
What do you love most about being Catholic?
I love our value of community, the Sacraments, especially the Eucharist, Adoration, and the beauty and profound meaning in how and why we practice our faith as we do; it’s all about Jesus!
Share something that you like about yourself?
I love that I’m a twin, and that I’m an auntie.
Why ministry?
I'm definitely an introvert, but I'm also a people person. I love meeting and talking with people, learning their stories and what moves them, understanding their perspectives and beliefs about life. And I love my faith. Ministry allows me to connect and share faith with people in a way that challenges and blesses me. It opens me to the grace of mutual growth in our faith and life journeys, and it affords me more opportunities to be creative than I could have hoped for.
